I am Supriyo Sahoo, a visual artist, textile designer and founder of my brand RIMIL (meaning “cloud” in Santhali). In 2017 I started Rimil to revive West Bengal’s traditional Gamcha weaving by collaborating deeply with local weavers and women artisans to sustain their livelihood and craft as they were almost jobless due to overpowering of Power looms at that time.We diversify traditional Gamcha with new colors, concepts and product designs inspired by Bengal’s folk and tribal art and daily life. I’m Supriya Sahoo, a visual artist and a textile designer based in Kolkata.I have done my B.V.A. in 2000 , from Govt College of Art and Craft, Kolkata.

Started my journey as a Visual artist and textile designer, my works evolved around hand weaving tapestry working with different counts of natural threads with full of earthy tones.
As an artist I often spend time with drawing, inspired from my surroundings and life experiences .My personal journey significantly influence my contexts and shape my concepts within my works.
To name some great artists of all time are Gustav Klimt, Paul Klee, Paresh Maity whose art works are inspiring me.
I’m an independent artist practising on my own to establish my art work through my woven textures and tapestry work.
