Community Conversation with Hemangini Rathore + Trunk Show

Khazana will host a community conversation with visiting artist Hemangini Rathore, moderated by local textile expert Dr. Cristin McKnight Sethi. Hemangini will speak about her design process and work with Sudarshan, a thriving artisan collective that aims to preserve and promote traditional textile techniques and motifs found in folk textiles from India by creating contemproary designs and products.
Trunk Show will be held at Khazana on October 13,14,15, Noon to 6:00 PM (on all 3 days) showcasing Hemangini Rathore’s new collection of handmade and naturally dyed textiles and one of a kind garments.

Watch as expert artisan-designer Thilak Reddy of Kalam Shastra (Tirupathi, India) creates a beautiful new textile using the ancient art of kalamkari, a form of hand-painting natural dyes onto cloth using bamboo pens (known as kalams).

Hailing from a long line of traditional weavers in the small town of Bhujodi in Gujarat, India, Rajan creates innovative shawls, scarves, and home textiles that emerge from the traditional Bhujodi color palette and pattern language.
