Khazana is proud to introduce to the Twin Cities the co-founder of SHE Kantha, Malika Varma. Malika, in cooperation with her mother, Shamlu Dudeja, founded SHE (Self Help Enterprise) to empower women through the vintage handcraft of Kantha.
The art of Kantha embroidery is passed from generation to generation-spanning mother to daughter to granddaughter. Each Kantha tells a unique story and includes the embroiderer’s signature cleverly camouflaged in a corner.
SHE Kantha has been a part of the Sante Fe International Folk Art Festival for 14 years and for the first time, they are bringing their collection to Minneapolis. Here is YOUR opportunity to meet Malika, the woman who started the project, hear her stories and take a piece of art home with you to pass down to your next generation.
This is a free event and open to the public. Proceeds from purchases go directly to SHE Kantha. Be the first to experience, explore and appreciate!
